Vancouver Hurling 2010 – A Look Ahead

The Vancouver Hurling team is after coming off a very progressive and successful year in 2009. The clubs 3rd year in existence is fast becoming our most successful already now that the club’s application to the NACB Hurling Championships has been approved and the real Hurling can begin. Events for 2010 include the following:

  • April 17th – Registration day for the NACB – location TBD.
  • Saturday June 5th Seattle Gaels Hurling Competition  in Seattle
  • Saturday night June 5th night out in Seattle!!
  • Sunday June 27th Vancouver Football and Hurling Tournament – Hurling Game against Seattle
  • August 7th or 14th trip to Burlington, USA for Games against Seattle and Portland
  • August 5th/12th/19th/26th weekday Hurling games amongst ourselves
  • August 13th Fundraiser – Location and Theme TBD
  • September 3rd, 4th & 5th North American County Board Hurling and football Championships in Chicago, Vancouver will be participating in the Junior A Hurling Championship for the very first time.

Official Hurling training is beginning on Sunday April 11th at Strathcona Park at 11:00am. Training at this time and venue will continue through to Sunday August 29th (Pitch has been booked). From Tuesday May 4th training will increase to twice a week, Tuesdays trainings will take place at 6:15pm at Andy Livingston Park. In August training will increase to 3 times a week prior to the NACB. All training times, dates and locations are now on the website and on our facebook page.

The Hurling Management also has tentative plans in place to hold Hurling games amongst ourselves during the months of June and July.

The main events for the year will be the Seattle trip in June and the NACB in September. We look forward to seeing everybody at training, games and of course socially as “off the field bonding” is crucial to our teams success and promoted amongst its members!!
